Sorta(really they're even more screwed in the long run unless certain conditions are met). Rather less hesitate once tainting became more of a thing, given that it, kinda, protects them from demons. The demons ate nigh all the mana in the world, and then the survivors only very hesitantly took back up the art of demon summoning. Just not for lengthy periods of time.Ĭlick to shrink.Actually, it was more that the dark elves went completely crazy summoning demons(among other things). So for their rather small population, the Drow can field a sizable force. Now the Drow are on the lower end of that spectrum, but the Dawi for example, can go from 10% to 95% of their male and female population under arms in next to no time. They aren't like a normal human or even Warhammer human civilization where out of 1,000 people maybe 50-100 are trained and dedicated soldiers.įor these long-lived elder races, out of any given population of 1,000 you can field between 400-750 competent fighters. What the Drow and all the other elder races have in common is that they can field massive portions of their population as skilled combatants in time of war. The Asur/High Elves are somewhere between 7-7.5 million. The Wood Elven population is hanging right around 100,000 in total. Meanwhile I'm going to come in here now and say that for the purpose of the "What if:" Most Dwarven Karaks don't even reach that level of population. Humans: Okay at most things, underground fighting is not one of them. Best Mages in setting (of the "that mountain range is in the wrong place I need to move it over 30 miles, poof, aaaaannd done"). Slann: Not on this continent, be happy, they wouldn't like the Drow. Have dragonriders (actual full-fledged dragons, not the pitiful ones the Drow have), have 2nd best casters in the setting. Inexhaustible forces (they can literally reform any troops that fall), not overly bothered by demonic possession.ĭwarfs: Excel in underground combat (have been fighting the Skaven underground without the rest of the world realizing it for millenia, while being vastly outnumbered), high end tech, extremely resilient, rune magic focused on buffs and debuffing enemy spell casting.Īsur/HighElves: Not great underground, really good at "blotting out the sun" with arrows. Tomb Kings: Undead Egyptian kings and their armies. They would make good line-breakers but not thrive underground. Ogres: Large species, don't fit that well in tight spaces, always hungry (but willing to eat anything, including rock), kinda dumb. Vampire Counts: Undead armies galore, not specialized at underground fighting, but their force aren't hindered much at all by it.ĭruchii/Dark Elves: They are good at every kind of combat, so just general good all-purpose melee and spell focused troops Very pragmatic and thorough.Ĭhaos forces: Humans tainted by chaos, no inherent advantages over normal humans fighting underground except what blessings the Dark Gods give them. They would operate very comfortably in underground combat. (Cause in Warhammer, all of their views are justified now)īeastmen: Not great underground, operate better in forests.Ĭhaos Dwarfs: Evil Dwarves with deamon summoning and binding tech/magic and massive slave armies of goblins, hobgoblins and orks. The remaining tainted will be viewed with distrust and fear, while the religious zealots who opposed tainting to begin with are super smug. So from a practical perspective tainting will shortly be discontinued (Officially at least, tons of factions still dabbling in secret). But it would draw attention from many malign entities in the warp and expose the researchers to a ton of corruption. If this were a quest, the Drow could begin a very lengthy and dangerous research project to try to reestablish ties with the dimension that they originally drew their demons from. The way I see it, the dimension they get their demons from is still out now they are in a different neighborhood cosmically speaking and the only beings picking up the phone are decidedly less "friendly." The Drow could do summoning as a local effect (like for the duration of a battle) but don't have the oomph to keep them around for lengthy periods of time (as in days).Īnyone already tainted does not get a Warhammer flavor demon all of a sudden, but anyone who gets tainted after the transition does. Unlikely, Winds in the Border Princes are not strong enough to sustain that level of daemonic incursion.
